The siding and stone are almost done

The masons have been working in freezing weather with a little heater and a tarp to get the stone work done. It's called walnut ridge and I love the color variation and how it turned out. The siding is cement board so that is not the color it will be; we'll paint it in the spring. A look at the side with the installed garage doors.

The back deck is framed and they will be finishing it soon with trex boards. The siding and roof are done for the most part. Just a couple details needed when it warms up.

Ice Hockey over Christmas

As I look outside at our 3 degree weather I think of how balmy Christmas was. Here are some great action pictures Sarah A. took with her new Christmas present. We spent a lot of our time outside playing on the ice because there were too many of us to comfortable be in the house. Here Ben, Jesse, Sam, Chad, and Lily get ready for the pass.

Heres my very graceful move. The next picture would show me on the ground with a huge bruise on my knee. I had to ask for goalie duty after this.

Here's my approach before the fall.

Andrew and Jesse fight for the ball. Are we playing soccer or hockey?

House Update 1-1-11

We now have an entry stair, sort of. It's coming together. Since these pics the roof has been put on and all the electrical and plumbing are almost complete. So exciting!

On Christmas Eve, we stayed at the boat house so I saw the windows and front door for the first time. Much to my dismay, I noticed that the windows were the wrong color (tan instead of white) and the front door is missing the dentil shelf (the little blocks that line under the windows). It's a craftsman thing. Anyways, I was very distraught since our color scheme was to be gray with white trim. After negotiations the company agreed to credit us back almost half the cost of the windows to keep them. I think I can change the house color with that kind of incentive.

The boys wanted to go explore since they hadn't been back since it was a hole in the ground. Now that there are staircases they can. They are about to go down into the basement.

New house as of 12/11/10

The framers are out working in subfreezing weather. That has to be one of the coldest jobs, brrr! But I appreciate it. They have framed the second story now and are framing the roof this week. Here's a view out the library from the upstairs.
a look at the front. You can see they started the roof rafters somewhat. It's going to be a 12 pitch roof so it will be pretty tall and steep.

Sam was out there freezing with me. Here's the upstairs landing or playroom according to the plans.

A look out the two story foyer window.

Race photos--finally

So I recently was emailed these pics of us in our half marathon in October. It's kind of fun to see action shots:) Now that it's cold and running has become much harder, I can't even imagine running that far. We'll have to get back in shape next spring.
Although it looks like I'm leading in this photo don't be misled. I was tailing behind trying to keep up with my husband.
